With this painting I tried to capture the essence of a mother’s embrace, the warmth, the tenderness, the eternal bond. Inspired by this artwork,  there is a poem, Generations, to celebrate the profound connection between mothers and their children, and the deep joy a grandmother feels watching her child nurture life.

It’s a reminder that love flows in circles, from one generation to the next, weaving a tapestry of care, resilience, and hope.

Generations

A mother cradles her newborn near,
A tiny life, a world so clear.
Soft whispers hum a timeless tune,
Beneath the glow of a silver moon.

Her hands, so new to guiding care,
Trace paths through wisps of baby hair.
Her heart beats strong, a shield, a song,
A promise held her whole life long.

But nearby stands a quiet gaze,
A grandmother lost in tender haze.
Her child now holds a child of their own,
A love reborn, a bond full-grown.

She sees the echo of years gone by,
In this sweet child with curious eyes.
The laughter shared, the tears, the strife,
Now carried forward, blooming life.

From mother to mother, the thread extends,
A tapestry woven, where time bends.
One teaches love; the other has learned,
Both carry flames that forever burn.

A circle complete, a dance in time,
A melody sung in a perfect rhyme.
For in this child, they both are free,
Rooted in love, a living tree.
